McDonald's Sakura Teritama Burger

McDonald's Japan is coming out with a very special burger just in time for hanami (cherry blossom viewing).

Say hello to the Sakura Teritama Burger, also known as the "Cherry Blossom Burger". It's available in Japan starting today, March 21 - but ONLY for three days!

This burger is a specialty item that is a take-off from their newest seasonal burger called a Teritama burger... which is a word play from teriyaki tamago.

Teriyaki is a Japanese cooking style where foods are broiled or grilled with a glaze of soy sauce, mirin and sugar.

Tamago is the Japanese word for egg.

Yup... the Teritama burger is a hamburger WITH a fried egg... so what exactly is a Sakura Teritama burger?

Well, for one thing, it has a pink bun. It also comes with a pink sakura (cherry blossom) daikon radish mayonnaise.

Sakura Teritama Burger
The Sakura Teritama Burger features the standard features of the regular Teritama Burger, namely a fried egg, ginger teriyaki pork patty, lettuce, plus newly addded sakura daikon radish mayonnaise sauce with the pink buns holding it all together. Sugoi (great)!

Again... just like the cherry blossoms and the windy month of March, the Sakura Teritama Burger will be here and gone quite quickly... It's here on March 21, and gone with the wind on March 23, 2014.

Catch a glimpse and taste while you can - and for goodness sake, let me know how it tastes!

The regular Teritama Burger is currently on the menu and will be available until mid-April., 2014, so let me know how this one tastes, too!
Sakura Cherry Float.

And because McDonald's Japan knows a good thing when it sees it, to cater to Japan's fad-loving consumer, it is also selling a Sakura Cherry Float.

People.. how can you resist? McDonald's all over Japan have also decorated their restaurants with cherry blossoms.. but again, I suspect only for three days!

Cheers,
Andrew Joseph
