Terry Pratchett - Author of Discworld Books Dead At 66

If he wasn't my favorite author, he was tied for it.

Terry Pratchett, author of the very funny Discworld fantasy books has died at the age of 66.

I don't wish to speculate on just WHY he died, but Pratchett suffered from a very rare form of early onset Alzheimer’s disease.

He was also part of the fight in Britain for the right of critically ill people to legally opt for assisted suicide.

According to Transworld Publishers, Pratchett died on March 12, 2015 at his home, “with his cat sleeping on his bed surrounded by his family.”

The Twitter tweets below, were released by Pratchett's people... Mort, I believe, or maybe Mort's son:

None of this has much to do about Japan, except that I read my first Pratchett book there—Good Omens—in 1990 (co-authored by Neil Gaiman) and eventually read all 70 of his novels. Every single one of them.

RIP,
Andrew Joseph
