  1. Looks like a great article. I have always been interested in what happened to the DPs in the far east. There are some fascinating stories including a Korean who wound up fighting in France for the Germans and a Nihonjin who spent a lot of time in the Ukraine. Then of course there are the entire Japanese units who went over to the communist Chines forces rather than return home (if they even had that option).

    This is not to deny the great tragedies of Japanese families especially children who found themselves isolated and alone in post war Manchukuo.

    None of this of course justifies what happened to the Chinese and other nations under Japanese occupation
