World's Oldest Man Dies

Koide Yasutaro (小出 保太郎), surname first), the world's oldest man, died on January 19, 2016 at the age of 112, two months shy of his birthday.

Born on March 13, 1903, he predated the Wright Brothers historic heavier-than-air first flight.

Born in Tsuruga-shi (City of Tsuruga), Fukui-ken (Fukui Prefecture), he was a tailor in a men's clothes shop in the same town he was born in.

He moved in with his daughter in Nagoya, when he was 107. Holy crap… his daughter must have been around 80, and had to look after someone in the same way she had to look after herself!

It was reported that at the age of 110, Koide read newspapers without eyeglasses and ate without dentures. Holy crap… aside from the dentures, he was healthier than I am now… and I'm not even half his age. (It's nice to be able to say I'm not even half someone's age.)

According to Koide, the secret, for him, for a long life was to not smoke or drink and to not over do it.

Geez… what's the point of living so long if you don't over-do it, smoke and drink?

Seriously… who wants to die healthy?

Koide-san did NOT pass away from old-age (whatever that is), but rather died from heart failure and pneumonia at a hospital in Nagoya.

Koide had taken over the title as world's oldest man after Momoi Sakari (surname first) passed on July 5, 2015.

He had seven children, nine grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

Yoshida Masamitsu (surname first) - born May 30, 1904, takes over as the oldest-living man in the world.

The oldest women are:
  1. Susannah Mushatt Jones (born July 6, 1899) - US;
  2. Emma Morano (born November 29, 1899) - Italy;
  3. Violet Brown (born March 10, 1900) - Jamaica;
  4. Tajima Nabi (surname first) (born August 4, 1900) - Japan;
  5. Miyako Chiyo (born May 2, 1900) - Japan;
  6. Yorimitsu Toshie (born September 30, 1901) - Japan;
There are five Japanese women in the Top 10.

Newest oldest man Yoshida is the 54th oldest person on Earth at the moment.

It sounds silly, but I'm really pulling for the two oldest women to hang on, seeing as how they are two last remaining people on the planet born in the 1800s. I mean, come on… Queen Victoria was still around!

Actually, the five-oldest women were alive when Queen Victoria was still yelling "Off with their heads!"

Somewhere, I know that Vickie never said that,
